Iowa State University located in Ames, Iowa was originally founded in 1858 as Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm. It has approximately 27,000 students and over 100 buildings with programs in agriculture, science, technology and art. The Iowa State University College of Business was established in 1984 and its undergraduate program was ranked 49th among public universities. It is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The accounting program ranked among the top 25 schools in the nation for students passing all four parts of the CPA exam.
Ames, Iowa is 30 minutes from Des Moines, and 3 hours from Kansas City, Minneapolis, and Omaha. It is a city that has been ranked the 2nd most liveable small city in the nation. It is a city that draws professional talent with international symphonies and Broadway musicals. The city has many parks, numerous bike paths, and cultural festivals and celebrations. The temperature ranges from an average temperature of 21º in the winter to an average of 72º in the summer.
