(added university information and external sites to Main Page under new organization)

Pics aren't bad, but they take up to much vertical space, can you make the pics for people at least, in two columns?  Also, if you add those pics, we should probably drop that little people icon thing.

I'm even more interested in making other pages look good.  This page is decent, but some of the pages after this get pretty boring and ugly. Daw44 10:34, 22 December 2008 (MST)

:Here's what it looks like with two columns on the people section. I'll get working on some of the other pages.--Emetts 10:45, 22 December 2008 (MST)

::Looks good.  I think we can implement it, but before we do, could you center those boxes in the section?  Also, I didn't mind the look in the next section, but I think we need to do some more thinking about the organization of that next section before we worry about what it looks like. Daw44 10:50, 22 December 2008 (MST)

:::I guess I am one of those old fuddy duddies, but, I like the old design.  Whenever I see a page that has pictures/icons that are obviously just from some big general bank of pictures, I am slightly turned off.  Also, another contrarian thing--I would much more see more and better content than more glitzy pages.  Of course, this is just a personal preference thing--I am not too graphically stimulated, and like webpages like this.--Jlamro 11:31, 23 December 2008 (MST)

::::I completely agree on content.  That is why we have asked so many people to help make content.  There are two students hired to help improve the wiki.  They have limited exposure to improve content, so I'm having them help in other ways.  I think the home page has looked pretty nice, but the other pages, could use some cleaning up (in my opinion).  Would you follow this motif throughout the entire website or use the pictures (or none of the above!)? Daw44 11:59, 23 December 2008 (MST)

:::The pictures are great.  A while back I was talking to Roy, and he learned about that page where a lot of programs had individual forms they had filled out (posted here: http://aaahq.org/temp/phd/StudyMaterials/index.htm , and it is somewhere on the wiki, but I dont know where now)He told me a little while later that they were going to split up all the schools and put them in a spreadsheet.  Does anyone know if that ever got done?  I have not seen it on here, although I dont visit all that often.--Jlamro 17:47, 26 December 2008 (MST)

::::I like the pictures.  They add a little color to the page and help break up the monotony.  I checked out the website that Jlamro mentioned.  It is a great resource for potential phd students.  The previously posted link goes to a page regarding a survey that AAA performed to provide information on individual phd programs.  The main site is currently a work in progress but provides more information.  We could post a link on each school's wiki page that leads to its survey repsponse, possibly at the bottom of the wiki page.  That would take an hour or so for all the sites we have listed on the wiki. Spuhlmann 17:02, 29 December 2008 (MST)

:::::Stephan, I like the idea of posting each individual website to the specific page.  Why don't you go ahead and work on that when you get a chance. Daw44 20:00, 29 December 2008 (MST)

::::Sounds good.  I found the link that Jlamro had mentioned; there is an exiting link to the AAA PhD info site on What is life like as an accounting professor?.  It references the report the AAA issued on the future of accounting academics. Spuhlmann

I've gone ahead and given us an idea of what the Main Page would look like with the proposed topics--Emetts 17:30, 30 December 2008 (MST)

:Wow, where did you get the picture of the guy in the cap and gown-hopefully this person doesn't access the wiki.  It is kind of out of place because he looks goofy.  My brother and I both chuckled when we saw it.  Anyways, I like the setup.  If we can do something to the top of the page to make it more exciting, I think we might win the Nobel Prize in physics for turning what the wiki initially looked like into something inviting and interesting.  Also, I think it might be helpful to put a link to the university information listing from here.  If we put it under "Other Topics," then it will get lost.  Especially, considering it alone has been accessed more than the current four topics shown combined. Spuhlmann 17:47, 30 December 2008 (MST)

:The guy has to go--he's not obeying the honor code :-).  Honestly, see if you can't find a better picture than that guy.  I'll think more about the organization stuff...Daw44 20:21, 30 December 2008 (MST)

The program is designed to prepare students to enroll in a Ph.D. program in accounting at another university after finishing their master’s degree. Students in both the five-year integrated program and the two-year graduate program are eligible to apply to the PhD Prep Track. The program involves Ph.D.-style seminars to learn about research and academic work, as well as coursework in mathematics, econometrics, and statistics. <div style="float:right; margin: 0 0 1em 1em;"></div> Students who participated in this program have been highly successful in placing at research intensive Ph.D. programs.
